THE ROLE:

AMD is looking for dynamic and energetic Director of Hardware Development Engineering to join our NTSG - Network Technology Solutions Group. Our team fosters continuous innovation and is committed to nurturing your career growth.

THE PERSON:

As a Director of Hardware Development Engineering at NTSG - Network Technology Solutions Group, you will join our talented Hardware Engineering team working alongside other engineering functions. Your team will be responsible for designing systems and boards that incorporate high speed networking technologies, and leading edge industry standard technologies. You will be leading a design team in every stage of design, from initial concept to volume production, and sustaining shipping products.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in leading design teams in system-level design, from concept to component selection and schematic capture through layout, bring up, debug, validation to high volume production.
  • Experience working in dynamic, ever changing fast-paced environment
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration a must
  • Strong background in high-speed board designing for enterprise and data center segment,
  • Strong knowledge in industry standards: Ethernet, PCIe, servers, networking switches, routers. Interconnects, optics
  • Knowledge in FPGA/CPLD design methodologies
  • Packaging knowledge and understanding tradeoffs
  • Knowledge of schematic capture and PCB layout tools from Cadence
  • Working knowledge of power architecture in both circuit (DC/DC POL converters) and power integrity. Knowledge in power efficiency optimization techniques
  • Understanding of signal and power integrity challenges and solutions designing systems with high speed NRZ/PAM4 SerDes-based protocols such as PCIe, Ethernet, and memory interfaces: DDR4/5
  • Strong experience in board bring-up and validation
  • Silicon bring-up and debug experience.
  • Track record of taking successful products from concept to volume production
  • Has worked with contract manufacturers, ODMs, JDMs, pcb vendors, and suppliers.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Has proven record working with contract manufacturers, JDM, and ODM model
  • Can work with mechanical and thermal teams to create achievable system design specifications
  • Silicon characterization/validation to ensure devices are meeting specification and performance
  • Written skills to contribute to technical documentation to be consumed internally and externally
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong academic and technical background in electrical engineering
  • Technical management experience
  • Multi-tasking capabilities in managing number of concurrent projects

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

BSEE, MSEE preferred
