Overview

The Risk Manager I provides day to day support for Gilbane Development business units, including the assessment of risk on projects, procurement of insurance products and ongoing administration of insurance products. Manage business unit relations across all functions within operations (leadership, business development, purchasing, project teams). This role reports to the Director of Risk Management.

Responsibilities
    Obtain pricing in various insurance products (Risk Management Rate, Builders Risk, Construction, and other project specific coverages)
  • Insurance program administration
  • BU support (including predevelopment, construction / development, and asset / property management)
  • Provide accounting support to ensure all invoices are remitted timely
  • Maintain relationships with business unit leadership to ensure alignment and set strategy for insurance program traction
  • Owner and subcontractor contract reviews
  • Project risk assessment
  • Manage risk management technology (Riskonnect)
  • Maintain Schedule of Values for owned assets
  • Collaborate with development teams to assess risk and provide solutions from acquisition, through development, and operational risk
  • Analyze and track contracts to ensure insurance requirements are compliant

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2-5 years of experience in real estate development and construction or risk management industries
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • General understanding of insurance market (coverages, trends, pricing)
  • Strong written, verbal, interpersonal capabilities
  • Ability to function as an integral part of a team, highly collaborative
  • Ability to coordinate and manage efforts involving individuals from different geographic areas as well as external partners
  • Strong financial / analytical skills
  • Ability to understand issues quickly and follow through to resolution
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong problem solving, planning, and organizational skills-including multi-tasking
  • Proficient in MS Outlook, MS Office, Excel and other critical RMIS software is essential
  • Works independently, requires supervision
  • Interacts well with senior level BU management

Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.


For New York, NY this ranges from $85,000.00 = $110,000.00 plus benefits and retirement program.
